Getting there
Take Metro Line 7 and all the way to the last station “Universal Resort”.
Expect to take about 45mins if you are travelling from the Central.
Universal Studio open at 9am. Hence, plan your trip accordingly
Best time to visit
Based on what I have observed on the queue waiting time in the app, Tues, Wed or Thurs would be the best time to travel.
I visited Universal Studio on a Wednesday in early Dec. All except for Harry Potter rides took not more than 5 mins waiting time. Harry Potter ride took me 15-30 mins to queue.
I manage to play all rides and even rode 2-3 times for some rides.
Rides
Raptor Encounter
What it is: Spend 5-10 mins for the guide to explain the raptor and then queue to take photo with raptor.
Tip: You can use your own camera to take photo.
Scary? : No
Ride or Skip: Skip unless you have time
Lanterns of Legendary Legends
What it is: Scrambler ride. Takes about 2-3 mins.
Tip: Indoor ride. Join this if it is cold or raining.
Scary? : No
Ride or Skip: Yes but not worth the wait.
Carousel of Kung Fu Heroes
What it is: Carousel ride. Takes about 2-3 mins.
Tip: Choose your favorite’s animal. There is seat belt to be worn. Hence safety comes first.
Scary? : No
Ride or Skip: Ride it if you are with family or couple
Bumblebee Boogie
What it is: Tilt-A-Whirl ride. Takes about 2-3 mins per ride. The bumblebee movement are cool.
Scary? : No but a bit dizzy.
Ride or Skip: Ride it if you have kids
Loop-Dee-Doop-Dee
What it is: Roller Coasters made for kids. It just run 1 full round of about 2 mins.
Scary? : No but it is fast.
Ride or Skip: Ride it but skip if it is a long queue.
Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark
What it is: 4D ride with 3D glasses.
Tip: Sit in the front row to have full immersive experience.
Scary? : No. There is no sudden drop as well.
Ride or Skip: Ride it. Ride it. Ride it!
Flight of the Hippogriff
What it is: Mini roller coaster. Approximate 2-3 mins.
Scary? : Yes but not as scary as compare to Decepticoaster
Ride or Skip: Ride it.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
What it is: 4D rides which takes 5-10 mins.
Tip: Your belongings will need to be stored at a numeric pin locker and then retrieve at the other side of the lockers after the ride. Keep yourself light during the ride as there are some sudden movement which things may dropped from your loose pockets.
Scary? : No. but there are few scenes where Lord Voldemort will appear and young kids may get scared.
Ride or Skip: Ride it.
Jurassic Flyers
What it is: Fast Glider. About 3-5 mins.
Tip: This is outdoor ride. Skip it if it is wet. Keep yourself light by keeping your belongings at a temporary free lockers. The locker is free for 30 mins.
Scary? : No but it is fast. There is no sudden drop.
Ride or Skip: Ride it.
Kung Fu Panda Journey of the Dragon Warrior
What it is: Water log ride. About 5-7 mins. There is a part where it will go up about 3-5m and drop it
Tip: Try this first if it is raining outside.
Scary? : No. There is 1 minor drop and water splashing.
Ride or Skip: Ride it.
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
What it is: 3D indoor rides. You will go to a room and watch a 5 mins video before going into another room.
Scary? : No.
Ride or Skip: Ride it if you have young kids. Otherwise, skip it.
Super Swirly
What it is: Scrambler round and round ride.
Scary? : No.
Ride or Skip: Ride it if you have young kids. Otherwise, skip it.
Shows
WaterWorld Stunt Show
What it is: Water Stunt Actions. Last 10-15 mins.
Tip: The seats are indicated with colors on where the water may splashed onto. Choose the center seats to get the best view.
Watch or Skip: Watch it.
Nighttime Magic at Hogwarts Castle
What it is: Lighting effects shine onto the buildings
Watch or Skip: Watch it.
Wand Magic
What it is: Move some objects with your wand
Tip: You need to buy a wand that has infra red sensor. Look for the camera and do the strokes slowly in front of it.
Watch or Skip: Play it if you can afford to buy a wand.
